We are responsible for political relations between Britain and Germany. We work with other sections of the Embassy to promote close co-operation between the two countries in pursuit of shared goals.

The section fosters regular contact between British and German politicians and officials at all levels. It represents British views on bilateral and foreign policy issues to German decision-makers, and keeps ministries in London informed of German thinking on key issues and political developments in Germany.

Members of the section work closely with officials in the Auswärtiges Amt and other Federal Ministries and are in frequent contact with Federal and Länder politicians, as well as with academics, foundations and others involved in development of German policies and public opinion.
