We monitor and analyse developments in Germany on European Union and Economic issues affecting the United Kingdom. We also provide information about the UK to interested parties in Germany. The aim is to identify common ground, build common positions and relationships and manage differences where they arise.

Our section is headed by Dominic Schroeder (Counsellor, EU & Economic) and is divided into four teams:

Economic, Trade and Development Team, led by Kate Davenport, is responsible for economic, trade and development issues, including regular reporting and analysis of trends in the German economy. It also covers bilateral labour and social affairs.

Environment and Energy Team, led by Andrew Smith, provides information about German environmental and energy policy and promotes UK environment and energy policy in Germany.

EU and Economic Team, led by Marc Holland, covers EU policy issues: agriculture, budget, employment and social affairs fields. It also covers EU aspects of competition, transport and industry policy.
