Defence Team

We provide the British Ambassador in Berlin with timely and professional advice on all aspects of defence. The Section is his source of accurate information on the Armed Forces of Great Britain, their latest missions and deployments, and also to give advice on the German Armed Forces.

The head of the Defence Section is a Brigadier, who is the Defence and Army Attaché. His role is not only to advise the Ambassador, but also to promote UK Defence interests within Germany, by fostering British-German defence relations at all levels. Defence relations with the Armed Forces of Germany are very close.

He is supported by three further attachés of equal rank who handle single service matters: a Naval Attaché (Captain, Royal Navy), an Air Attaché (Group Captain, Royal Air Force) and a Military Attache (Colonel, British Army).
