Malcolm Scott, Consul-General
British Consul-General for North Rhine-Westphalia, Hesse, Saarland and Rhineland-Palatinate, and Director-General of UK Trade & Investment in Germany
Malcolm Scott was appointed British Consul-General to Düsseldorf and Director of UK Trade & Investment in Germany in August 2009. He has worked in the UK civil service since 1987, mainly in the areas of European trade and policy towards industry. He worked on the coordination of measures leading up to the creation of the Single European Market in 1992, and from 1992 to 1994 he was private secretary to the Minister for Industry. In 2001 he gained an MBA qualification from Imperial College, London, followed by two years as Director Europe in UK Trade & Investment. From 2004 to 2009 he was Director of Aerospace, Marine and Defence in the Department for Business.
Malcolm Scott was born in 1961 and educated at Dollar Academy and St Andrews University, where he studied German and Music. He is married to Julia Davis, a doctor working in East London. In his spare time he enjoys playing the piano and walking in the countryside.
