The British Consulate General in Düsseldorf provides Consular birth and death registration facilities for British Citizens resident in Germany, forwards applications to the Home Office on behalf of persons who have no automatic claim to British Citizenship and processes applications for renunciation of British Citizenship. If you need advice on any of the above matters, please email:

For general enquiries regarding Home Office applications that have not yet been sent to the British Consulate General Düsseldorf for forwarding, please contact the Home Office directly on 0044 151 672 5626. Lines open from 09.00 to 17.00 Monday to Friday.

The Nationality Section in Düsseldorf will be taking calls on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays between 13.30 and 15.30 for Home Office applications that have been sent to the British Consulate General. Please call 0211 9448 258.

For Consular Birth Registration Enquiries, please ring on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays on 0211 9448 260.

If you wish to have a written statement of your British Nationality status, please visit the Home Office / UK Border Agency website to obtain form NS

If you wish to apply for proof that you have not become a British Citizen you should also visit the Home Office / UK Border Agency website.
